happy mother's week!

happy friday...TGIF as robin likes to say. hope you are all planning fun weekends. it seems that robin's day off from school on wednesday was a lucky break for him. being new to the "escuela jardin de ninos", we hadn't received the school memo that the cr government has recently started combining national holidays with weekends (3 day weekends are an u.s. invention i think). good idea, but this holiday change has created little bits of confusion all around-to add to the normal bits of confusion flying here and there on an everyday basis. it turns out robin DID have school wednesday, even though the school calendar stated that it was a school holiday. also, this monday is the NEW 3 day weekend mother's day celebration and it is the real day off! even more confusing is that the public schools had last monday AND this monday off for mother's day. and for good measure, they gave them today off, too! next year i say just take the whole week off...

reading that last line, i'm thinking "day OFF of school for mother's day?" something doesn't make sense here! maybe a week off of school is a very bad idea...

more on robin's new nameless friend at school: i was interested to meet this kid in robin's class because robin claimed he had "3 mohawks". ?? well, his name is roberto and his hair could really just be described as "spiky". lots of help from gel i think. there wasn't even 1 mohawk. robin has an intriguing imagination that way. he tends to "imaginize" events and experiences, past, present and especially future. i think it's more for his own amusement, but it can be a little weird for the rest of us. a few weeks ago i got him a t-shirt at the thrift store that seems to sum it up perfectly. across the front in capital letters: "I MAKE STUFF UP". public service announcement. you've been warned.

this photo is a scan of the card robin made for me wednesday morning. he invented the flower drawing all by himself, he says. also, he made me scrambled eggs for breakfast. very tasty. i've never eaten such "scrambled" scrambled eggs before! he brews good coffee, too.

love, steph and robin xxoo
